The name of the show was suggested by two listeners in China and Egypt in response to a contest we held to name it.
We chose the name because mosaic is the word that best describes what we wanted the show to be. The meaning of the word mosaic is a picture made up of many different pieces. Each has its own shape and color. They form a large picture when they are brought together.
We wanted each small picece of the show to be interesting. And we wanted all the pieces to come together into a design...into an Amerian Mosaic that provides an interesting and accurate picture of life in the United States.
