I am practicing English almost everyday at VOA.
Especially this program is very pleasant and I am tired of it.
I am always grateful for your help.

      Dear Yasuhiro,
Thanks for your comment. I think you used the expression "I am tired of it" incorrectly, though. That means you don't like something anymore.
Perhaps you meant to say, "I am trying it?"

      Best wishes,
      Dr. Jill

The current show put the audience on the spot on an interesting dispute- is it better to live in the country or in the city. Many people of today enjoy living in the city because of taking into account all the modern amenities the city life has in store for them. But I prefer to live in the city because the country is enchanted by serenity and beauty. Many poets and writers have been enamored of the beauty and greenery of country life. Robert Frost, an American poet was always in love and tune with the melody of country life. He was a nature poet. He had many toys but nature was his most beloved toy. It was his toy of imagination. The beauty and serenity of country life has helped him to be on the wings of imagination and fancy. 'The woods are lovely dark, and deep'.........reflects that his idea of beauty is inextricably linked to the wilderness of the nature. William Wordsworth was also a fan of country life. His 'daffodils' is a crystal clear reflection of his worship on country life. Thomas Hardy, the famous writer also is a great fan of nature and country life. Almost all his novels have country life as their back grounds. They gave his novels an irresistible charm, and the reader an ineffable joy. While the country people are always friendly and interdependent on one another, the city people are ignorant of even their neighbors and remain to be a 'gated community'. Most of them are destitute of compassion and fellow feeling. Those who first arrive in the city from the country feels themselves to be a fish out water. Here is a saying in our land: 'The city is pedantic in every way; but the country is beset with virtues'. The city people are too busy to be careful to take care of their fellow beings. The city people are more reserved; but the country people are more mixing...Thank you.

Hi. Certainly, city people become less human than country people. There are more solidarity and fellowship in the country than in the city. As a song says, the city is a concrete jungle, where people try to survivor every day. In the city, people tend to be rude, but they don“t realize of this.
