I learnt better about Jimmy Carter as a President while he was the USA's President--soon after I arrived to Los Angeles from Moscow. I paid attention to the pers-l efforts of J.Carter to successfully resolve the American 444 days hostage problem. And also I was watching the meeting in the Camp David between M.Begin and A. Sadat, a meeting hosted by J.Carter. So when I read that Pr.Jimmy Carter has a hobby of himself writing books, I was not surprised--I knew that he had much to write about . And in one of the TV pictures,if I have good memories, I saw J.Carter giving the Soviet leader L. Bresznev a kiss apparently for contribution to the success of the meeting, showing respect to the Russian sentimentalism. Russian sentimentalism needed USA's pragmatism. J.Carter undoubtedly knew the subject well. Sometimes the US press called him a representative of the USA's "small man", a representative who knew well what were the needs of a small-ordinar American. Not to mention the frutful, efficient foreign policy, but maybe to mention a specific factor that in regard to a neighbor Mexico and other Latinos, for example, J.Carter didn't and doesn't need a translator -- he is fluent in Spanish.
