Today, one of the world’s biggest pop starts is Lady Gaga. But, she hasn’t always been a star. Lady Gaga got her start in New York clubs, talent shows and open mike nights. And Lady Gaga, or Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta is not only a pop singer turned sensation but she is also a very accomplished musician.
The native New Yorker grew up on Manhattan’s West Side and attended a private girl’s school on the fancier Upper East Side. During her childhood years, Lady Gaga learned to play piano completely by ear at age 4, and by 13 she had written her first piano ballad. By 14 she was performing at an open mic nights in a night clubs all around New York City.
Lady Gaga’s superstar status came following the release of her 2008 debut album ‘The Fame’ which was a commercial success and achieved international popularity with the singles “Just Dance” and “Poker Face”. She has also had six No. 1 hits on the Billboard charts: “Just Dance,” “Poker Face,” “Love Game,” “Paparazi,” “Bad Romance,” and “Telephone.” She’s won five Grammy Awards and has estimated album sales of fifteen million albums and fifty-one million singles worldwide.

Inspired by David Bowie, Grace Slick, Bob Dylan and Queen, as well as Elton John and Michael Jackson, Lady Gaga is well-recognized for her eccentric sense of style in fashion, in performance and in her music videos.
Gaga’s relationship with her fans is a special relationship. In a funny way, she calls them “Little Monsters,” but her devotion to her fans is very sincere and genuine. Its borders on the kind of hysteria once reserved for Hollywood celebrities like Judy Garland or Michael Jackson. She says it’s not about being number 1 or selling the most records, but about giving all that’s within her to inspire, influence and to make her fans feel good about themselves.
Her third studio album, ‘Born This Way’ is scheduled for release this month.
