Planning Needed Now for Africa’s Baby Boom

By the year 2050, UNICEF says, two of every five children in the world will be in Africa. This unprecedented demographic shift has two complementary causes: the already young population will soon reach reproductive age, causing a baby boom. Those watching the boom say African nations urgently need to prepare for this tsunami of babies with smart government policies. From Johannesburg, VOA’s Anita Powell brings us this report.
