The Obama campaign held a news conference Thursday in Massachusetts attacking Mitt Romney’s record as governor of the state. But the Los Angeles Times says the Obama strategist took key facts out of context, leaving a distorted picture of how Romney handled taxes, spending and debt. CBS News reports that Romney is attacking Obama for providing $535 million in loan guarantees to a California solar company that went bankrupt. Solyndra received the guarantees in 2009 and went bankrupt two years later. The loan program started under the administration of former President George W. Bush. The US Labor Department says the unemployment rate in May rose to 8.2 percent from 8.1 percent in April.  The New York Times reports it was the third mediocre performance by the job market in three months. With the economy the main issue for many Americans, the news will not be welcomed by the Obama team. That’s all for today. See you next time.
